"Shokoy" or "Okoy" in Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City

This half-human-half-fish or like an alien thing, that was found in the Balulang River in Ccagayan de Oro by an anonymous man, is commonly called as the "Shokoy" or "Okoy" here in the Philippines.

Manny Pacquiao and Kobe Bryant with Ad Team-up

Barring any last-minute change in schedule, boxing's pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao is making a whirlwind visit to Los Angeles to shoot a pictorial with basketball icon Kobe Bryant on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila).

Pacquiao and Bryant are under contract with Nike and both are the main endorsers in their chosen fields of the highly-successful Oregon-based sports apparel company.

Pacquiao's lawyer, Franklin Gacal, said they are booked to leave tonight via Philippine Airlines. Joining them are Pacquiao's business manager Eric Pineda and an executive of Nike Philippines.

"It's going to be a one-day shoot in Los Angeles and Manny and I are returning (to Manila) the next day," said Gacal, citing that Pacquiao has a lot of commitments to fulfill in the country.

As to how much Pacquiao is getting for the one-day gig with Kobe is a closely-guarded secret and Gacal politely declines to give even a ballpark figure.

"Satisfactory" was how Gacal described the pact between Pacquiao and Nike.

Pacquiao has done a few print ads for Nike Philippines but this latest project will be the second time the Filipino puncher is embarking on a deal for a much wider audience release.

Pacquiao had appeared in a commercial last year featuring Bryant and other top Nike endorses like Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova of tennis, Cristiano Ronaldo of soccer and Liu Xiang of track and field.

Pacquiao's brief stay in the US might enable him as well to look at the proposal concerning his planned Nov. 14 bout with Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico.

Mike Koncz, Pacquiao's Canadian adviser, has the documents in hand and he is keenly awaiting the arrival of the boxer in La-La Land. - MB

Rama is OK! With Ruffa-Lloydie 'relationship'

MANILA – After much resistance, talent manager Annabelle Rama has finally “surrendered” to Ruffa Gutierrez and John Lloyd Cruz's alleged budding romance. During her guesting on the 100th episode of morning show “Ruffa and Ai” Monday, Rama gave the young actor a go-signal to pursue her only daughter. Rama said Cruz, who is nine years younger than Ruffa, has already proven his sincerity and supposed feelings for the actress during their dinner at the Gutierrezes' residence two weeks ago. “Tinanong ko si John Lloyd sa bahay namin noong dinner, lumabas ang mga [ibang] artista, ‘Bakit hindi ka manligaw sa mga artista na yan? Maganda lahat iyan.’ Tawa lang siya ng tawa. Ibig sabhin gusto niya talaga si Ruffa. Sana huwag mong lokohin si Ruffa. Gusto mo talaga siya, okay lang,” Rama said. Rama, who is known for her frankness, was also impressed by the young actor. She praised Cruz’s courage, saying that, despite her strong objection, he continuously pursues the “Ruffa and Ai” host. “Napakatapang mong ligawan si Ruffa kaya ako bilib sa iyo. Maski ayoko sa iyo, ang kulit kulit mo kay Ruffa,” she said. There was another reason that prompted Rama to change her mind. She disclosed that it was hard for her to ignore the “twinkle” in both Ruffa and Cruz’s eyes when they were together. “Ruffa, kaya ako nag-surrender sa iyo, nakikita ko ang mata mo [at] mata ni John Lloyd, nag-twi-twinkle twinkle,” she said. She also rebuffed the “we’re-just-friends” public pronouncement of the two, predicting that their friendship will eventually lead to something more. Rama gave her go-signal under one condition though – for Cruz not to hurt her daughter. “Surrender na ang bandera ng Bisaya, binababa ko na. Itataas ko na [ang] kamay [ko], pati paa [ko] itataas ko na,” she joked. The talent manager also stated that she will no longer meddle with the decisions of her 35-year-old daughter. “Kung saan ka masaya, bahala ka sa buhay mo. Nagsawa na ako sa kaka-advice sa iyo. Pati mga apo ko nagagalit na din sa akin. Kung ano man ang pinili mong landas konting ingat lang para di ka madapa,” she added. [ph.yahoo.com]
